Neighbors have appeals the Los Angeles Planning Commission's approval of this massive, 7-story multi-use project proposed at 3209-3227 W. Sunset Blvd.
WHAT DO WE MEAN BY 'RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT'?
ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND PROJECTS
There are multiple large-scale infill and mixed-used developments planned within a few blocks. They should not be exempted from environmental review.
MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING OPTIONS
Do better than the bare minimum of affordable units. Silver Lake also needs apartments for families and affordable pathways to homeownership.
BUILDING SCALED TO THE COMMUNITY
Density is great. But development must be compatible with the character, scale and architecture of Silver Lake and sensitive to the area’s complex topography.
SAFER STREETS FOR EVERYONE
As the Sunset corridor is reimagined it should become safer for cyclists, more pleasant for pedestrians, better connected with transit options. And yes, we need parking too.
ABOUT US
We are residents of the Silver Lake neighborhood who have organized to respond to a succession of infill projects in the quarter-mile stretch of Sunset Boulevard between Parkman Avenue and Micheltorena Street. At least four major projects from a single developer are simultaneously in the works.
We have organized to ensure these developments:
Remain within acceptable density and height boundaries
Are subject to appropriate environmental review
Provide all the requisite affordable housing units
Meet the goals of the existing Silver Lake - Echo Park community plan
Don't push hundreds of cars into narrow hillside streets that are already overburdened
That projects that rely on public transit are truly near high-quality transit
